At MINDLESS, your privacy is our priority. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app. By accessing or using MINDLESS, you consent to the practices described below.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

Personal Information: Account details such as name and email address. Payment information for subscription services is processed securely by third-party providers.

Content You Create: Journal entries and AI journaling conversations; mood and sleep check-ins; intentions you record; your answers to in-app questions during setup; Focus Room membership and votes on unblock requests within a room.

Usage Data: App activity, such as feature usage and session duration; device information, including operating system, app version, and IP address. Information That Stays on Your Device: Your screen-time statistics, blocks, time limits, and app settings are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. Optional Data: Community contributions, such as forum posts and comments, shared by you within the app.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide, personalize, and improve the app’s functionality; generate AI responses to your journal entries and conversations; communicate with you about updates, features, and support; analyze usage trends to enhance user experience; process payments and manage subscriptions; and ensure compliance with our Terms and Conditions.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. However, we may share information in the following cases:

Service Providers: Trusted third parties that assist with payment processing, analytics, and app hosting. These currently include Supabase for account and content storage, PostHog for product analytics, Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting, Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications, Superwall for subscription management, and our AI provider for AI journaling responses.

Legal Compliance:

When required to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights, safety, and property of MINDLESS, its users, or others.

Business Transfers:

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the new entity.

Advertising

Mindless does not show ads, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not share your data with advertising networks.

Signing In

How you sign in depends on your platform. On iOS, Mindless uses Sign in with Apple. We collect the email address provided by Apple, either your real Apple ID email or a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. You can revoke access through your Apple ID account settings under Apps Using Apple ID. On Android, Mindless uses Sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address, and Google account identifier. In both cases, this information is used for account identification and login. We never receive your password and have no access to any other Apple or Google service. When you request account deletion, your email and all associated personal data are permanently removed or anonymized, as described below.

Mindless on Android

This section applies in addition to the rest of this policy. Accessibility Service: Blocking on Android requires Android’s Accessibility Service, which you enable yourself after an in-app explanation. We use it only to detect which app has come to the foreground so that, if you have blocked that app, we can show your focus screen and close it. The service cannot read screen content, text, messages, searches, passwords, audio, video, screenshots, or typing. Nothing it observes is stored on our servers or shared with anyone, and it runs only while you have an active block or time limit. Screen Time: Mindless uses Android’s Usage Access permission to measure time spent in each app, producing insights and enforcing daily limits. This data and your block and time-limit settings stay on your device. Focus Rooms and Bluetooth: Mindless may use Bluetooth to detect nearby members of the same room, only for room proximity; we do not derive your location from Bluetooth or request location permission. Notifications: With your permission, we send reminders, check-ins, and blocking-status warnings through Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Health and Wellbeing Information

Your mood and sleep check-ins are wellbeing information that you choose to enter. We use them to show you your own history and trends. Mindless is not a medical service, and this information is not used for any diagnostic purpose.

Account Deletion & Subscription Handling

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time through the app (Settings → Delete Account), by following the instructions at https://mindless.so/delete-account, or by contacting us at support@mindless.so. Once your request is confirmed, your personal information, such as your email address and authentication identifiers, will be permanently deleted or anonymized unless we are legally obligated to retain specific information for fraud prevention, tax, or compliance. Any retained data is stripped of identifiable information and used solely for internal auditing, analytics, or legal purposes. You may also revoke Mindless’s access to your Apple ID or Google account through the corresponding account settings.

Subscription & Billing Considerations

Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription. Apple App Store subscriptions must be cancelled through your Apple ID settings; Google Play subscriptions must be cancelled in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. We cannot cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions on your behalf. If you delete your account while a subscription remains active, the account will become inaccessible, but billing may continue unless you cancel through Apple or Google. You may schedule deletion after your current subscription period ends. Once deletion is finalized, it is irreversible and your data cannot be recovered.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to request access to or a copy of your personal data; correct inaccurate information; request deletion of your account and associated data; limit processing in certain circumstances; and revoke consent for specific data uses. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as necessary to provide the app’s services or comply with legal obligations. Upon account deletion, we securely delete or anonymize your data unless required by law to retain it. Your data is stored on servers located in the United States.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

MINDLESS uses cookies and similar technologies to understand app usage and improve functionality, and to deliver a seamless and personalized experience. You can control cookie preferences through your device settings.

Third-Party Links

Our app may include links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
